Curatorial Narrative In the sprawling canvases of Fedor Grigoryevich Solntsev’s “Odezhda boiarskaia XVII stoletiia. Portrety kniazei Repninykh”, we find ourselves transported to a bygone era, one in which the opulence of 17th-century Russia was distilled into meticulously rendered tableaux. Conceived between 1849 and 1853, these works fall squarely within the tradition of historical illustration, their style redolent of Renaissance-era masterpieces.
