Curatorial Narrative As we consider the painting “Korsunskoe panikadilo, v Novgorodskom Sofiiskom sobore” by Fedor Grigoryevich Solntsev, created between 1849 and 1853, we find ourselves situated within a unique moment of artistic revival in Russia. This work exemplifies the artist’s technical proficiency in executing linear brushwork, imbuing the composition with an unyielding sense of structure, reminiscent of medieval architectural drawings.
